A cinnamon scented love letter to Autumn !

The part of the world where I was born, the advent of autumn signifies the end of grueling hot summer and lonely and dark monsoons. It is the beginning of the season of festivals where people across celebrate the universal Mother Goddess called as Navratri or Durga Puja. Autumn ends with the festival of lights called Diwali.

In the part of the world where I live now, autumn or fall as it is more commonly known signifies harvest season. The weather starts getting cooler and the air crisper. Unfortunately, I don’t live in Montana or New England where I can witness the glorious fall foliage. I can only imagine the shimmering carpet of golden, yellow and red leaves.

Landscape in my part of the world remains green or brown. People like me can only hear about the leafy tales from their relatives or see those glorious images on social media.

Both in my native country and my resident country sun shines brightly, and there is hardly any eventful change in leaves. But I can feel the sense of slowing down and dreaminess.

I can’t witness bright leaves dancing, but I will not let this fact dampen my autumn spirit. I am such a fall person; I will celebrate coziness and dreaminess in my way.

Are you also alone and thinking what to do this fall?

Here is a list of things to do in autumn if you are single and in whichever part of the world you live in:

  1. Staying home alone in the evenings can be isolating. Try a new and creative hobby. Learn how to knit or crochet. My mom made this beautiful scarf for me years ago. I usually like to do cross stitch or needlework at this time of the year.

2. Your countryside may not be filled with brilliant fall colors or postcard views, but you can still enjoy a quiet walk in the woods. A long and lovely late summer day walk will cheer up your mood.

3. Extend your baking repertoire this fall. So warm up your oven and get cozy and baking. Gift yourself a lovely baking cookbook, and start trying whooping pies, silky puddings or apple and pumpkin desserts.

4. Nothing screams autumn better than a cup of coffee or hot cocoa. When I was a kid, my grandma used to make us a ginger and turmeric latte. Make yourself a nice cup of coffee or hot cocoa and smell the autumn in a cup. With so many flavors available now in this season, cinnamon, vanilla, caramel, get transported to heaven.

5. Start a reading marathon. Trust me there is no pleasure better than curling up with a dreamy book and a great cup of coffee on your bed.

6. Wrap yourself in a comfy blanket and enjoy a beautiful movie on an autumny evening.

What do you prefer to do on an autumny night?
